Business owners, corporations and state governments still are trying to figure out the future financial effect of the nation’s Health Care Reform Act as the legislation continues to take affect across the nation.
Sections of the legislation passed in 2010 have helped increase the amount employees, government and businesses now pay for health care coverage.
Now, governments and businesses are trying to figure out how much more health care costs will increase, or fall, as the core provisions of health care reform take effect within the next 15 months.
The mandates mean business and corporations are trying to determine if they should cut worker hours, reduce payrolls, delay hiring or take other cost cutting measures as they try to determine the future price of providing health care insurance to the majority of their employees or pay a penalty.
Trouble is no one knows the cost of establishing in-state insurance networks, administering those networks, or providing health care to those working through a business and everyone else.
“No one has any idea what the impact will be,” said Gary Daugherty, director of benefits with the Allison Insurance Group, “not even the insurance companies.”
